We found we often get a lot of questions about “what can” and “what cannot” go into dumpster bins, so we thought we’d add a FAQ’s on this topic.

1. What can I put in a bin? The better question would be what CAN’T go in a bin- hazardous materials, asbestos, propane tanks, oil tanks or drums, chemicals or solvents, paints, or explosives.

2. Can I put tires in the bin? We do allow tires in the bin, but for an additional charge. Why? Tires go to a recycling facility and the garbage goes to a transfer station.

3. Do you take old appliances? Appliances and furniture can be put into a bin at no additional cost. These items are dumped as general refuse with the rest of the garbage in the bin. We don’t do dedicated pick ups for appliances or furniture. However, if you contact the City, the will arrange a day & time when they will pick up an oversized item at no cost to the homeowner.

4. Can I put sod or yard waste in the bin? If you’ve ordered a bin for garbage then the answer is no. Dirt, concrete, sod, etc cannot be mixed with general refuse as these items are taken to a different dumping facility. We do offer 4 yrd mini bins if you have a bit of yard waste to get rid of, or a 10 yrd or 14yrd if you have more to get rid of. In reverse, if you’ve ordered a bin for dirt or concrete let’s say, garbage cannot be mixed in with those items either. Dirt and concrete can be mixed together, but the price is a bit more than if there was just one thing in the bin. Please note that asphalt cannot be mixed with anything else though.

5. How do you determine the weight of the bin? When the bin is picked up it is taken to a transfer station (dump site). The truck is weighed in on a scale when they enter the facility. The truck then pulls into the facility, dumps out the bin, then drives onto another scale before they exit. The truck is weighed again & the difference is recorded. This is the weight of your garbage!

6. Are there dumping fees or weight charges for Clean fill bins? No. We charge a flat rate for any type of clean fill bin (dirt, concrete, asphalt, etc).  The only time they would add an extra charge is if something has been put in the bin that shouldn’t be there like garbage.

7. Do you have flat rate pricing? We do have flat rate pricing. This includes the cost of the bin and a certain amount of tonnage, which varies depending on the size of bin you order. The bigger the bin, the more tonnage that’s included. If the tonnage goes over what is included in the flat rate then it is charged at our regular tonnage rate.

What we accept in our bins & junk removal trucks fits into two categories:

1. General Waste – This includes wood, drywall, plaster, furniture, roofing shingles, appliances and so forth
2. Clean Fill – This includes soil, concrete, steel reinforced concrete, brick, block, paving stones and asphalt. (NOTE: There are some limitations to what can be mixed together so please give us a call if there are any questions. Advice is always free!)

Other useful dumpster bin rental questions are:

What size bin do I need? Check out our website for a list of bin sizes to ensure you have sufficient room for a bin. Keep in mind you will need additional room to open the doors. Some bins are lower so if there isn’t room to open the doors you can still through material over the sides. What happens if there isn’t room for a bin? You can book our convenient junk removal service!

Can the bin go on the street? Yes they can if you obtain a street occupation permit. They cost about $35.00 a  day and require that the bin be placed in the same place you would park a car and are limited to the same rules as posted on the parking signs. This also means that if parking is on the other side of the street when you want the bin, the bin must be placed on the other side of the street and the garbage must be carried across the street. In some cases, bins can also be placed on the front lawn given there is enough room.

How long can I keep the bin? Our rental includes up to one week rental. If you need more time, there are additional charges that may apply. You can contact our office to make arrangements for this and for pricing.

How does payment work? When you call to make arrangements for the bin delivery we ask for a deposit by credit card.  Please note, we only authorize the card for deposit and nothing will be charged to the card until the bin has been picked up and we know the weight. We accept Visa, Mastercard and American Express. Deposit amounts vary depending on the size of the bin. You’ll receive a copy of your credit card slip along with your paid invoice in the mail.

When does the bin get picked up? Just give us a call when you are done with the bin and we’ll come get it.

De-cluttering does not have to be daunting task.

You can tackle it in these four easy steps:

Step 1:

Start small – Don’t attempt to clear an whole house in 1 time. Performing this could be mind-boggling and can frequently squash your motivation and cause you to push it off for another day. Do it in bit-sizes. Clear out one room at the time starting with the most difficult very first. If one area seems mind-boggling, divide the area into four sections and clean 1 section at a time.

Step 2:
Create three categories: Junk Removal Company section, donations, and stuff to keep. Use large organizational plastic bins to separate your items into these 3 categories. Should you run across an item that you’re not certain if you want to toss it or keep, then put it to the side and decide on the item9s) end of the cleaning session.

Step Three:

Ask yourself these types of questions. – Have I utilized it this year and do I plan on using it? Will I regret throwing this away or will my spouse? Do I truly require two or more of the same item? If find yourself saying “no” then maybe toss the items into the “donate” or “junk it” containers.
